Stent placement for ED is performed in the cath-lab. Patients lay flat on X-ray table. After minimal sedation, a small puncture is performed in the groin and the blocked arteries are identified using X-ray and dye. Then, the blockages are opened using a balloon or stent. The duration of the procedure is one hour.
